BIOGRAPHY

Originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, Tim Connelly grew up in the furniture design capital of America. After a move to LA during high school, he began taking night classes in Industrial Design at Art Center, where he graduated with a degree in Industrial Design.

After interning at SRAM, a bike component manufacturer in Chicago, he was hired full-time as an Industrial Designer. In 2006, he married and moved to Brooklyn. From there he found his way to Smart Design where he became rooted in the New York design community.

Tim’s design philosophy….

“I believe in creating products that work best for the customer, materials that age beautifully, and forms that are timeless.”

Throughout my career, I have strived to develop products at companies that share my passions: mountain biking, cooking, camping, and the outdoors, to help others live their best life.

I studied ceramics early in college, learned to throw, and continue that practice, today. Working nights and weekends in my home studio brings me joy. To start with a lump of clay and use my hands to form it into a vessel, both thrills me and relaxes me.

No odd job is too odd when it comes to our historic stone home and former Speakeasy “Tea House” in Pleasantville, NY, (Westchester) where I live with my wife, son, and gigantic dog, “Your Bigness.”
